Can search engines find it

One secure address, robots.txt, the sitemap, real 404s, and a main address on every page.

How it shows up in search results

The title and description on every page: there, readable, and different from page to page.

Page structure

One main heading per page, and headings that follow a clear outline.

Images

Descriptions for people who cannot see them, size set, weight, modern formats, nothing broken.

Link previews

What your page looks like when someone shares it in a text or on social media.

Links

Broken links inside your site and out, detours through redirects, pages nothing links to.

Phones and the basics

Set up for phones, zoom allowed, language declared, every file loaded securely.

Business details for search

Structured data that tells Google who you are, and FAQ answers it can actually use.

Content and speed

Enough to read in the page itself, how fast the server answers, page size, scripts in the way.

  • It does not run scripts. Text that only appears after JavaScript loads counts as missing, because that is what many crawlers see on a first visit.
  • It does not measure full page speed. It times the server and weighs pages and images. Google's PageSpeed Insights measures the rest.
  • It reads at most 15 pages. On a bigger site that is a sample, and the report says so.
  • It never logs in or changes anything. It reads public pages only and skips whatever your robots.txt asks checkers to skip.

Before you run it

Is it really free?

Yes. You get your score on the page and the full report by email. If you also tick the box for occasional notes, you get those too. Nothing else follows, and there is nothing to buy to see your results.

What do you do with my email address?

It is used to send you this report. If you tick the second box, it is also used for occasional notes, and every one of them has an unsubscribe link. It is never sold or shared. The report, and the copy of your address stored with it, are deleted after 90 days. If you asked for notes, your address stays on that list until you unsubscribe.

What exactly does it check?

Up to 15 public pages of your site, starting from the home page and the sitemap. It reads the HTML a search engine gets on its first visit and runs about 60 checks across search visibility, titles and descriptions, headings, images, link previews, links, page addresses, phone basics, structured data, content and server speed.

Will it slow down or affect my website?

No. A check makes at most 150 small requests over about a minute, three at a time, and stops there. It identifies itself as the GFL Website Checker, follows your robots.txt, and never logs in, fills in a form or changes anything.

Why might my score differ from other tools?

Every tool weighs things differently. This one reads the raw page, before any scripts run, so text that only appears after JavaScript loads counts as missing. That is deliberate: it is what many crawlers see on their first visit. It does not measure full page speed. For that, use Google's PageSpeed Insights.

Can I check a site that is not mine?

It only reads pages that are already public, and the report goes to the email you enter. Please use it for sites you run or work on. Each website, email address and connection can be checked three times a day.
