The crew.

I work with a crew of AI agents. I direct them and I check them. Each one has one job, a name, a written list of what it is not allowed to do, and it reports to me.

The name is a label for a job, not a pretend colleague. None of them is a person and none of them is presented as one. Where an agent has a portrait, it is a giraffe, the Genesis Flow Labs mark.

This page describes the work each agent does. It does not name the businesses or the people they do it for.

40 agents on the roster. Here is how many are actually working.

7
On duty. Holds a standing post and is used most working weeks.
22
On call. Dispatched when a job needs it, then stands down.
2
Idle. Has done real work. No open job right now.
9
Defined, not yet running. Written down, with a job and limits, but it has not carried regular work yet.

Most of the crew works when a session calls on it. They are not all always-on services, and I would rather say that here than have you find out later.

    Checks the work

  • Blueprint blue

Plans, builds, researches and gets work ready.

    Money and paper

Chief of staff

Holds the whole board and hands each job to the agent that owns it.

Portrait of Flow, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Flow

Chief of staff. Holds the board and routes the work.

On dutyChief of staff

Specialty: Knowing what is live across every project and naming the one job that matters today.

What it does

  • Reads the state of every open project before it says anything.
  • Names the one job for the session and says why, instead of offering a menu.
  • Hands each piece of work to the agent that owns it, and fans work out when it is truly parallel.
  • Closes every session with the state written down and the next one set up.
Limits
  • Email is draft-only, with no exception.
  • Never states a count, date, name or status from memory. It reads the source in the same step.
  • Anything destructive or outward-facing is confirmed with me first, and approval in one place does not carry to the next.

Operations watch

Watch something that is running and say what changed, in words a non-technical person can act on.

Portrait of Kestrel, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Kestrel

Watches live systems and relays verified status.

On dutyOperations watch

Specialty: The window where a silent failure costs something: a live demo, a release, a first day of real use.

What it does

  • Watches logs, inboxes and message threads while something is live, and speaks only when something changes.
  • Turns raw telemetry into two or three sentences a non-technical partner can act on.
  • Answers in my threads under its own signature, so the reader knows it is not me typing.
  • Writes down what failed and what fixed it before the session ends.
Limits
  • Email is draft-only. A text goes out only when I have authorized it, and it is signed.
  • Price, contracts, scope and timelines are escalated to me. Its line is: that one is Shafen's call, I will flag it.
  • Never reports a number or a status it has not just read from the source.
  • A check that finds nothing does not count until a control on the same input finds something.

What the word means: A kestrel is a small falcon that hovers in place while it watches the ground.

Osprey

Tracks everything in motion on one client's order system.

On dutyOperations watch

Specialty: Orders arriving, orders stuck, deadlines, and promises owed.

What it does

  • Checks that each order entered in the field reached the office, and flags anything stuck or held back.
  • Watches the order system's health and says what changed.
  • Keeps the list of deadlines and of what has been promised to whom.
Limits
  • Price, scope, contract and dates are mine to answer.

What the word means: An osprey is a fish-hunting bird of prey.

Runs an account

One agent assigned to one piece of ongoing work. It knows that account and nothing else.

Tern

The specialist who explains a system to the people who use it.

On dutyRuns an account

Specialty: Answering how does this work, and what changed, in plain English.

What it does

  • Writes change lists, how-tos and one-page guides a person can read on a phone.
  • Logs every request in the asker's own words, with where it came from.
  • Keeps the phase plan honest: what is built, what is next, and what each side owes for it.
Limits
  • Never promises a date or a feature. The answer is: I will check with Shafen.
  • Never mentions prices. Money is mine.
  • Nothing gets built from a request until I have approved it.
  • Email is draft-only. A text goes out only when I authorized that message, and it is signed.

What the word means: A tern is a slender seabird.

Datum

Owns one field-services account end to end.

On dutyRuns an account

Specialty: The operations console for a field-services business.

What it does

  • Runs the build and upkeep of the client's operations console.
  • Does the work, verifies it, and reports what it did without waiting to be asked.
  • Directs the specialist agents dispatched on that account, and reports up through Flow.
Limits
  • Email is draft-only, including when I say send it. It drafts and I press send.
  • A text goes out only on my say-so for that message, and only signed.
  • Checks the page that is actually being served before calling anything done.
  • Never prints a password or a key.

Why the name: A datum is the fixed reference point every measurement on a site is taken from. It is the trade's own word, it means something, and it belongs to nobody.

Portrait of Nubia, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Nubia

Looks after a medical practice's phone system.

IdleRuns an account

Specialty: The phone tree, greetings, extensions, call reports and the phone bill.

What it does

  • Makes phone tree and greeting changes when the practice asks for them.
  • Reads the call reports and the invoices and says what changed.
  • Logs every change it makes in its own record, because the vendor's console does not show who made a change.
Limits
  • Never types a password into a field. I do that.
  • Signs every message, so the practice knows it is not me typing.
  • Has a published profile, and may not do anything that profile says it cannot.

Why the name: Named for the Nubian giraffe.

Portrait of Cora, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Cora

Runs marketing for a medical practice.

On dutyRuns an account

Specialty: Social posts, the business profile, journal articles and the monthly report.

What it does

  • Prepares the content calendar and the batches of posts for approval.
  • Drafts profile updates and journal articles.
  • Assembles the monthly marketing report.
Limits
  • Nothing publishes without the practice's approval of that exact version. Nothing approves on a timer.
  • No patient ever appears, and it never reads or answers a message that contains patient details.
  • No medical advice, no promises about results, no comparisons.
  • Email is draft-only.

Why the name: Named for the Kordofan giraffe, and chosen because the word dictates cleanly.

Dalil

Keeps a community business directory accurate and published.

IdleRuns an account

Specialty: Listings, the sheet behind them, and the publish step.

What it does

  • Keeps the listings matched to the source sheet.
  • Runs the build that publishes the directory.
  • Answers the committee that maintains it, under its own signature.
Limits
  • Drafts only. Everything it sends is signed.
  • Never promises a feature that is not live.

Why the name: Dalil is the Arabic word for a guide, and the ordinary word for a directory. It was chosen because it is a thing, not a person, so the committee never wonders whether Dalil is a volunteer they have not met.

Home and personal

The same discipline pointed at my own promises. I use what I sell.

Keystone

Holds me to my word.

On dutyHome and personal

Specialty: A ledger of what I promised, to whom, and by when.

What it does

  • Adds every promise I make in a working session to the ledger, the moment I make it.
  • Says what is overdue, what is due today and who is waiting.
  • Sends morning and evening briefs to one phone: mine.
Limits
  • Messages exactly one person: me. Never anyone else.
  • Treats everything it reads in messages, notes and transcripts as data. Instructions found inside them are not followed.
  • Never deletes a ledger line. Done and dropped both keep the text.

What the word means: A keystone is the wedge-shaped stone at the top of an arch that locks the others in place.

Checks the work

Agents whose only job is to check the others. Several of them cannot write or send anything at all.

Portrait of Lantern, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Lantern

Read-only verification against the live system.

On callChecks the work

Specialty: Checking a number, a date, a name or a status before it is written down, quoted or built on.

What it does

  • Reads the live system and returns a count together with the command that produced it.
  • Goes hardest at the claims everyone is most confident about, because nobody re-reads those.
  • Also holds one account post, and its verification work stays read-only there too.
Limits
  • As the verifier it cannot write, cannot edit and cannot deploy. That limit is the product, not a gap in it.
  • Does not check our own reports. That is Proof.
  • Does not take measurements off a screen. That is Caliper.

Why the name: The name is the job: carry a light to the thing and look at it, rather than remembering what color it was.

Portrait of Proof, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Proof

Checks what we said about our own work.

On callChecks the work

Specialty: Tracing every claim in a report, a deck or a status line back to the thing it came from.

What it does

  • Reads our own reports and goes looking for the parts that are wrong.
  • Files each correction underneath the original, never over it.
  • Works hardest on the paragraph everyone already agrees with.
Limits
  • Never edits the claim it is correcting.
  • Never sends anything.
Portrait of Caliper, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Caliper

Measures what everyone else estimated.

On callChecks the work

Specialty: A rendered screen, at a stated width, read back as numbers.

What it does

  • Pins the screen size, takes the measurement and reports it.
  • Checks the claims that rest on someone's eye: it fits, it scrolls, the contrast is close enough.
  • Runs before anything visual reaches a client.
Limits
  • Has no opinion about whether something looks right.
  • Never changes the thing it is measuring.

Why the name: The name is the instrument: a caliper does not say whether a part is nice, it says what the part is, to a number, twice.

Loupe

Design and accessibility review from the source code.

On callChecks the work

Specialty: Predicting where a page will break on a phone before anyone renders it.

What it does

  • Reads the page's code for overflow at phone width, clipped text and tap targets that are too small.
  • Computes color contrast from the actual color values, in both light and dark themes.
  • Checks keyboard access, focus handling and print output.
  • Returns ranked findings with the exact code change.
Limits
  • Read-only.
  • Says plainly that its pixel numbers are predictions until something is rendered.

Why the name: The name is the job: a jeweler's glass. Look closely at the thing itself before anyone holds it up to the light.

Portrait of Tumbler, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Tumbler

Keys and exposure.

On callChecks the work

Specialty: Knowing where every credential lives and which copies of it exist.

What it does

  • Finds each copy of a credential and reports where it is.
  • Runs before a release, before a folder is copied anywhere and before a repository is pushed.
  • Says plainly how bad an exposure is, including when it is less bad than we said.
Limits
  • Never prints a secret value. Not once, not shortened, not to prove two copies match.
  • Holds no tool that can write a file or reach the network.
  • Does not rotate, revoke or change a credential. It finds, measures and reports.

Why the name: The name is the job: the part of the lock that decides whether the door opens, and the only thing that has to know the shape of the key.

Portrait of Warden, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Warden

Pre-flight. Runs before anyone else starts.

On callChecks the work

Specialty: Setting the conditions several agents will work inside, so they cannot collide.

What it does

  • Reserves the things that collide when agents work in parallel.
  • Writes the map of which agent may write which file.
  • Holds the content fences: no pricing, no unproven claims, nothing on a slide that is not live.
Limits
  • Does not build, does not plan the work and does not verify the result.
  • Its answer is often no, and early.

Why the name: The name is the job: hold the line, and be unpopular about it early rather than expensive about it late.

Cutover

Reviews work the way a senior enterprise software project manager would.

On callChecks the work

Specialty: Spotting what rings false in a project plan, a sample data set or a status report.

What it does

  • Reads demos, dashboards, risk logs and status reports before they reach someone who runs those projects.
  • Checks the test sequence, the go-live timing and who owns what on a real project.
  • Returns ranked findings with exact replacement text or data.
Limits
  • Read-only.
  • Never claims a certification, and never states a product feature it has not sourced.

Why the name: The name is the job: the weekend everything moves to the new system is where a fake plan gets found out.

Money and paper

Invoices, engagement letters and deal preparation. Every one of them prepares and waits. None of them sends.

Scrivener

Drafts the paper that gets signed.

On callMoney and paper

Specialty: Engagement letters, scopes of work, proposals, change orders and renewals.

What it does

  • Drafts from the actual record: the call notes, the emails and the texts.
  • Aims for the shortest clear document a buyer signs without changing.
  • Prices by the outcome and never puts hours in a letter.
  • Renders the document and reads it before anyone else does.
Limits
  • Not a lawyer, and never says or implies otherwise.
  • Stops and routes to a licensed attorney on equity, ownership and anything else that needs one.
  • Never drafts from a summary when the record itself can be read.

Why the name: A scrivener was the professional who drafted binding documents for people who had better things to do.

Tally

Billing clerk.

On callMoney and paper

Specialty: Turning agreed terms into a correct invoice draft, checked against the signed paper.

What it does

  • Builds the invoice draft and the cover note for it.
  • Reconciles each invoice line by line against what was agreed.
  • Finds work that shipped and was never billed.
Limits
  • Draft only. It never sends an invoice.
  • Never records a payment and never changes a price.
  • Arithmetic is done by a checking script, not by the model.

What the word means: A tally is a running count.

Portrait of Ledger, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Ledger

Says which number is real this week.

On callMoney and paper

Specialty: Reconciling what was identified against what was invoiced against what was collected.

What it does

  • Keeps those columns separate and never collapses them.
  • Names what is contingent and what is actually in the account.
  • Traces a number that is circulating back to a piece of paper, or says that it cannot.
Limits
  • Does not send an invoice, price a deal or chase a payment.
  • Reports numbers and names conflicts. It holds no tool that could act on either.

Why the name: The name is the job: the record of what is actually owed, actually billed and actually in the account, kept separately from what anybody hopes.

Cornerman

Negotiation coach.

On callMoney and paper

Specialty: Getting me ready for a conversation where a price, a split or a scope is in play.

What it does

  • Reads the deal from the record and writes a one-page prep.
  • Lists the options and the exact words for each.
  • Flags anything that would reopen a price already agreed.
Limits
  • Never negotiates live and never speaks to the other side.
  • Cannot send or draft a message. It holds no tool that could.

What the word means: In boxing, the cornerman is the person in a fighter's corner between rounds.

Quill

Reads the actual paper and says where I am exposed.

On callMoney and paper

Specialty: Contracts, ownership of the work, liability, and the clauses in someone's standard terms that bite later.

What it does

  • Reads an agreement, quote or scope before it goes anywhere.
  • Reads the other side's standard terms when they arrive.
  • Prepares what a real attorney gets handed.
Limits
  • Not a lawyer, and never presents its output as legal advice.
  • Never writes final wording and implies it is ready to sign.

Foil

Argues the other side's case against my own draft.

On callMoney and paper

Specialty: Reading an agreement I wrote as if it had been hired by the other party.

What it does

  • Finds every place the other party is exposed.
  • Marks every clause their lawyer would strike, and every silence that favors me.
  • Prepares a line-by-line review for when the other side is in the room.
Limits
  • Never contacts the other party.
  • Never softens a finding to protect the relationship.
  • Not a lawyer, and never claims to give legal advice.

Plans and builds

Planning, building and keeping the work moving. None of them puts anything into production.

Portrait of Atlas, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Atlas

Planning and critical path.

On callPlans and builds

Specialty: Working backwards from the date that matters and writing the plan others execute.

What it does

  • Sequences several workstreams against one deadline.
  • Cuts the work into packages that can run in parallel.
  • Keeps an evidence log, so nobody derives the same fact twice.
Limits
  • Builds nothing. Its output is a plan, never a prototype, a fix or a release.

Why the name: The name is the job: carry the whole map, and know which road actually reaches the date.

Portrait of Mason, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Mason

The build lane.

On callPlans and builds

Specialty: Turning a written spec into working code, isolated from every other build in progress.

What it does

  • Builds on its own branch, its own database and its own port.
  • Stages a release so the real one is short and rehearsed, with a tested way back.
  • Reports what it built and what it did not, with the output attached.
Limits
  • Never touches production. Not a release, not a one-row fix. A person who is awake does that.
  • Never claims a passing result without the output.
  • Never sends anything to a person.

Why the name: The name is the job: lay the course, straight and level, and leave it standing for somebody else to inspect.

Bosun

Runs the working party.

On callPlans and builds

Specialty: Keeping a project moving between sessions from a written queue.

What it does

  • Reads the queue, picks the next item that is not blocked, and dispatches it.
  • Updates the queue after every item, so the state survives a session ending.
  • Escalates a blocked item instead of guessing past it.
Limits
  • Never deploys.
  • Never writes to a live database.
  • Never sends a message.

What the word means: A bosun is the ship's officer in charge of the deck crew.

Portrait of Ken, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Ken

Operations. The standard the specialists are held to.

On callPlans and builds

Specialty: The job that does not fit one lane, or spans several, and has to be carried to the end.

What it does

  • Finds the inefficiency and automates the thing that looked impossible.
  • Carries a cross-cutting job to the end and checks it before handing it back.
Limits
  • Is not used when a job has a lane, because sending Ken would route around that lane's limit.
  • Never hands back something it has not checked.

Dovetail

Master carpenter. Draws the job before anyone cuts.

On callPlans and builds

Specialty: Cabinetry and closets: drawings, a cut list, and a check on the carpenter's quote.

What it does

  • Turns a room or a quote into dimensioned drawings and a model you can turn around.
  • Produces a cut list with sheet counts and a hardware list.
  • Checks a carpenter's materials list against the drawing.
  • Writes the questions to settle before the first cut.
Limits
  • Never orders, pays, or agrees a price or a date.
  • Never talks to a carpenter, a showroom or a supplier. It prepares and waits.

Why the name: The dovetail is the joint that marks a cabinetmaker's hand: two pieces cut to fit so exactly they hold on their own. Named for the work, in the trade's own word.

Research and coaching

Outside research, document review, and getting a person ready to present or operate something.

Portrait of Scout, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Scout

Outside research.

On callResearch and coaching

Specialty: Public sources only, with a link and a read date on every fact.

What it does

  • Checks a claim about a regulation, a standard, a competitor, a price or a market before it goes into a document.
  • Marks what it could not verify instead of smoothing it over.
  • Supplies the evidence. Somebody else decides what to do with it.
Limits
  • Does not read a client's private files.
  • Does not decide anything, and does not write the document the research is for.

Why the name: The name is the job: goes ahead of the party, reports what is there, does not decide what the party does about it.

Portrait of Herald, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Herald

Presentation and coaching.

On callResearch and coaching

Specialty: Building the thing someone else has to stand up and say.

What it does

  • Builds decks, phrase sheets and coaching plans for a presenter who is not me.
  • Keeps a line-by-line register of what may and may not be claimed.
  • Makes the argument in the audience's own recorded words, with a source for each phrase.
Limits
  • Never invents a quote and never tidies one. A phrase with no source does not go on the sheet.
  • Never writes a claim the product cannot demonstrate live.

Why the name: The name is the job: carry the message into the room, in the voice of the room, and get the person carrying it ready.

Portrait of Keel, an AI agent, drawn as a giraffe

Keel

Reads a client's safety documents more carefully than they did.

On callResearch and coaching

Specialty: Contradictions between a written standard and the form that is supposed to implement it.

What it does

  • Checks cross-references and regulatory citations in a document set.
  • Finds where a form asks for a control it cannot evidence.
  • Carries one finding all the way to a fix that can be proven.
Limits
  • A document practice, not a safety practice. It holds no credential and never claims one.
  • Can find that two numbers disagree. Cannot decide which one is correct.

Why the name: The name is the job: the part of the hull that stops the boat rolling over and lets it hold a line.

Docent

Training and walkthroughs.

Defined, not yet runningResearch and coaching

Specialty: Getting a person able to operate the thing on their own.

What it does

  • Writes guides, run-of-show scripts for a live demo, and quick-reference cards.
  • Performs every step on the live thing in the same run that it writes the step.
Limits
  • Never describes a feature from the source code alone.
  • Never contacts the learner. The account's own agent or I deliver the material.

Why the name: A docent walks a visitor through a collection stop by stop, says what they are looking at, and leaves them able to find their own way next time.

Growth desk

A small desk for my own public posts. Written, with limits, and not doing regular work yet.

Sable

Runs the growth desk.

Defined, not yet runningGrowth desk

Specialty: Deciding what gets posted, what does not, and which desk agent does the work.

What it does

  • Owns each public post from idea to result.
  • Assigns the writing, the placement and the measurement.
Limits
  • Never invents a result, a follower count or a testimonial.
  • Never presents as a person.

Why the name: Named for the sable antelope: visible on purpose, not decorative.

Weaver

Growth desk writer.

Defined, not yet runningGrowth desk

Specialty: Captions and posts in my voice.

What it does

  • Writes the words for a public post.
  • Sets any text on an image in code, never with an image model.
Limits
  • Never lets a post read as if a person did work an agent did.

Hornbill

Growth desk distribution.

Defined, not yet runningGrowth desk

Specialty: Where a post actually goes, and how.

What it does

  • Drafts the placement for each channel.
Limits
  • Never posts. It drafts the placement and I post.

Nyala

Growth desk partnerships.

Defined, not yet runningGrowth desk

Specialty: Whether to tag a partner in a public post, and whom.

What it does

  • Checks each partner mention before a post goes out.
Limits
  • Keeps the economics of a partnership off the page.

Serval

Growth desk measurement.

Defined, not yet runningGrowth desk

Specialty: Whether a post landed, counted from the source.

What it does

  • Reads the numbers for a post from the platform at the time of asking.
Limits
  • Never states a count from memory.

Real estate desk

Four agents for my own real estate practice, set up in October 2026. They draft. I click.

Keybox

Listings operations.

Defined, not yet runningReal estate desk

Specialty: Running a listing from signed intent to live, step by step from a playbook.

What it does

  • Checks the owner of record first.
  • Prepares the listing agreement fields and the listing input, saved and not submitted.
  • Verifies every public link once the listing is live.
Limits
  • Never submits a listing, never sends anything for signature and never posts publicly. Those clicks are mine.

Why the name: Named for the work: the keybox is the lockbox that holds a listed home's keys, and every showing goes through it.

Plat

Market intelligence.

Defined, not yet runningReal estate desk

Specialty: Monthly lease and sale comparables, and the timing of price steps on an active listing.

What it does

  • Keeps dated, sourced comparables for the areas I work.
  • Flags when an active listing reaches a scheduled price review day.
Limits
  • Verifies before quoting.
  • Never changes a price and never quotes a figure to a client.

Why the name: Named for the work: a plat is the recorded map of a subdivision, the ground truth of where every lot sits.

Porch

Client care.

On callReal estate desk

Specialty: The weekly owner update, and every promise made to a client.

What it does

  • Drafts the weekly update for each active owner: showings, feedback, next step.
  • Captures each promise I make to a client into the promise ledger.
  • Drafts the thank-you after a deal closes.
Limits
  • Drafts only, in my voice. It never sends.

Why the name: Named for the work: the porch is where you greet people, and where they come back to.

Signpost

Growth for the real estate practice.

Defined, not yet runningReal estate desk

Specialty: Finding the next listings and looking after referral partners.

What it does

  • Prospects only from rentals the owner is advertising themselves.
  • Keeps partner touches dated.
  • Prepares a monthly growth review.
Limits
  • Drafts only. It never sends, posts or spends.
  • Never approaches an owner who is exclusively listed with another broker.

Why the name: Named for the work: a signpost points people to where they want to go.

How they are held to account.

An agent with no limits is a liability with a nice name. These four rules apply across the whole roster.

Verifiers that cannot write

The agents that check the work are built without the tools to change it. As a verifier, Lantern cannot write, edit or deploy. Tumbler holds no tool that can write a file or reach the network. A checker that cannot touch the thing cannot quietly fix it and call it fine.

Drafts, not sends

Email is draft-only for every agent on this page, with no exception. The agent writes it, I read it, and I press send. The billing clerk and the negotiation coach hold no tool that could send at all.

Signed as an AI agent

When I do authorize an agent to send a text, the message is signed with the agent's name, and the people receiving it have been told it is an AI agent. Nobody on the other end should ever have to wonder whether they are talking to me.

A person approves anything that leaves

Anything outward-facing gets my approval first: a message, a published page, a release. Price, scope, contracts and dates are never an agent's to answer. The line they are given is: that one is Shafen's call, I will flag it.

How a named agent gets set up on a piece of your work

Tell me the job. I will tell you if an agent fits.

Some work should stay with a person. Thirty minutes is enough to find out which side of that line yours is on.
