Led by Shafen Khan.
Backed by trusted specialists.

I am Shafen Khan. I run Genesis Flow Labs out of Dallas-Fort Worth, and I build technology for businesses that need it to actually work.
I started this practice because I kept seeing the same pattern. A business owner would pay an agency or freelancer for a website, get something that looked fine on the surface, and then six months later they would be stuck. Nobody was around to fix it. The next vendor wanted to start from scratch. I thought there had to be a better way. So I built one.
When you work with Genesis Flow Labs, you work directly with me. I write the code, configure the servers, and make the design decisions. For specialized work, I bring in trusted specialists I have worked with for years. But I lead every engagement. I am the co-founder and technical lead at TaxSquare, the fractional CTO for Legacy OBGYN, and the builder behind every project in the portfolio.
I also run my own AI infrastructure. Four GPUs, 88GB of VRAM, mesh networking across machines, self-hosted models, automation pipelines. Not as a side project. As the same stack I deploy for clients. When I recommend a system, it is because I run it myself first.
why the giraffe
See further than the herd.
The name came from a conversation with Aaron Stransky. The giraffe sees further than anything else on the ground. That is the job. Spot what is coming. Build for it before it arrives. Quiet strength. No need to be the loudest in the room when you can see the whole room.
values
How I think about the work
Build what works, not what impresses.
Every decision filters through one question: does this actually solve the problem? If it does not, I do not build it. No matter how cool it looks in a demo.
Own your infrastructure.
I push for solutions you control. Open-source tools, self-hosted services, and architectures that do not lock you into a vendor who can raise prices whenever they want.
Stay in the room.
I do not hand off projects and disappear. The person who builds your system is the person who maintains it. That continuity is what makes things work long-term.
Keep the overhead low, keep the quality high.
No office. No middle management. No account executives. That is not scrappy, that is intentional. Every dollar you spend goes toward the actual work.
The term Unconventional Technologist came from Aaron Stransky, founder of Magic Unicorn. He saw what I was building before I had the words for it. His mentorship through the Magic Unicorn Technical Accelerator helped shape how I think about technology and the businesses it serves.
