The conversation
I was sitting by the pool with my father-in-law. He made chai. We talked about the route.
For years his invoices were handwritten. One line for a whole box of mixed flavors. That worked until the stores changed. Now they want every flavor on its own line, with a barcode they can scan, so their stock stays right.
That is a lot of writing for one man with a pen, stop after stop.
I told him I would build him something. He went to bed.
The night
By the time he woke up, it was done:
- Pick the store. Tap + for each box. Print. Every line gets its own barcode.
- It works without signal. The invoice saves on the phone and sends when there is signal again. We tested it by switching the server off.
- The barcodes are real. We printed a 33-line test invoice at printer resolution and ran it through a barcode reader. 33 of 33 lines scanned.
- A second AI checked the work. It found 13 problems before anyone used the app. All 13 were fixed that night.
Then the rest came together: a name (BeepSlip), a website, a phone line that rings my cell and turns missed calls into voicemail emails, and the first posts.
Why it is free
Big distributors have big software. Small routes have a pen.
So BeepSlip is free for every route owner without a system. If you deliver candy, snacks, ice, bakery goods or supplies to gas stations and corner stores, it is for you.
What this changes for us
For a long time, "building software" for a small business meant weeks of meetings, a quote, and a long wait.
This was different. One real problem, one conversation, and a crew of AI agents doing the heavy lifting while I made the decisions. The result is not a mockup. It is a working app his stores can scan.
That is the work we want to do more of: sit with the person who has the problem, understand it the way they live it, and ship the fix fast.
